About Sonja…
Sonja Lessley resides in Brooklyn, New York, but originally is from San Diego, California and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and than continued her studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in conjunction with Tufts University to receive her Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing.
Sonja’s lifelong love of animals is channeled through her vibrant passion of painting. She translates that energy into intimate portraits of animals, pets, companions—including dogs, cats, horses. and even wild animals.
At a personal level, Sonja is an avid animal rights activist. She loves interacting with animals, and her work shows it! She lives with her cat friend CC who decided to adopt Sonja in the fall of 2010.
